I like technology. I am particularly intrigued by how technology can solve problems for humanity that laws cannot.
Follow me on this one: we try to draw a line when it comes to drinking and driving. First it’s .10 now it’s .08. We steepen the fines and jail time. We commit offenders to treatment, helping them seek help.
Yet for all that we do, tons of people still drink and drive. 1 in 10 Minnesotans has a DUI.
So while efforts help, but ultimately can’t do the trick, maybe technology can. Enter this article linked below about cars that drive themselves. Maybe in the near future it won’t be about finding the magic enforcement level to decreasing drunk driving, but about getting rid of the need to drive.
What do you think?
